Claude Lorrain (1600-1682)

Lorrain Claude was born in 1600 Chamagne, France.

“Here among you is a perfect man (said Goethe), he knew not only how to think but how to transmit beauty; in his soul, each time, a world is born that is rarely found in reality. His paintings are penetrated with a high truth, but in them there is no concrete reality. Claude Lorrain studied and knew the real world in its smallest details; but this knowledge was only the means to express the wonderful world of his soul”.
