Rossetti (1828-1882)

Dante Gabriel Rossetti. English Pre-Raphaelite painter. Born in London in 1828. From a very early age, he showed a great interest in literature. Like all his brothers, he aspired to be a poet. However, he also wanted to paint, having shown a great interest in medieval Italian art. Rossetti progressively approached more symbolic and mythological images than realistic ones, although women would always be the essential theme of his work.
