The frieze of the Parthenon is a bas-relief, which was realized in Pentelic marble and had a total length of 160 meters and an approximate height of one meter. This piece surrounded the top of the cella of the Parthenon in Athens and represented the great procession of the Panathenaea, a festival in honor of the goddess Athena.
