Description
Decorative relief made in molded alabaster with polychrome in oil and gilded finials.
Gilded and silvered wooden frame with ornaments made of modeled alabaster and with antique patina.
It is the Venus, the central figure of the work “The Consecration of Spring” by Botticelli, which has a raised hand like the traditional welcome greeting. She is crowned by Cupid, her son, god of love. The composition replaces the bow and arrows of Cupid by a branch of an orange tree, in turn, the scene was painted between orange trees, in allusion to the coat of arms of the Medici, a true patron of the Renaissance.
