Reproduction of an Etruscan Aruspice sculpture. An arúspice was an Etruscan soothsayer who examined the entrails of a sacrificed animal to obtain omens for the future.
Etrurian arúspices were consulted privately throughout the Roman Empire. The Roman Senate held the ‘Etruscan discipline’ in high regard and consulted the haruspices before making any decisions.
