Reproduction inspired by a sculpture of Ares located in the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg. The original statue is a Roman copy of a Greek work attributed to the Greek sculptor Alcamenes (420 B.C.).
The god Ares (Mars in Roman culture) is the god of war, courage, and personal overcoming. Ares had a chariot pulled by four immortal stallions with golden bridles that breathed fire. Among other gods, Ares was known for his bronze armor and the spear he wielded in battle. His favorite animal was the dog. In classical Greek art, his usual attributes were a crested helmet and a spear with which he easily defeated his enemies.
Our favorite outdoor spaces, gardens, and terraces acquire special elegance when we incorporate reproductions of classical sculptures, such as this bust of Ares-Mars, into their decoration. This sculpture, capturing the serenity of Ancient Greek art, adds a timeless touch to our favorite outdoor corners. By placing this figure of the god Ares in our garden, we create a unique atmosphere where the statue of the god merges with the surrounding vegetation, achieving a harmonious synthesis between the beauty of art and nature.
Through representations of Greco-Roman deities like Apollo, Mars, or Venus, we not only showcase the aesthetics of classical art but also the symbolic richness of ancient mythology.
Decorating with reproductions of large classical sculptures can transform spaces into scenes of timeless beauty and serene contemplation where one can relax, reflect, and meditate.
