The emperor-philosopher Marcus Aurelius (121 AD – 180 AD), known as one of the “Five Good Emperors”, ruled the Roman Empire as co-emperor from 161 to 180 AD alongside Lucius Verus. During his reign, they faced numerous challenges, including military conflicts, epidemics, and internal crises. He is also remembered as one of the most notable Stoic philosophers, particularly for his best-known work, Meditations, a diary written during military campaigns in which he expressed his thought, following the principles of Stoicism, focused on the constant pursuit of virtue and wisdom and their application in daily life, in order to cultivate inner strength and thus overcome and face difficulties.
