Ares- Mars in black color. Reproduction inspired by a sculpture exposed in the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg. The original statue is a Roman copy of a Greek work attributed to the Greek sculptor Alcamenes (420 B.C.).
The god Ares (Mars in Roman culture) is the god of war, courage, and personal overcoming. Ares had a chariot pulled by four immortal stallions with golden bridles that breathed fire. Among other gods, Ares was known for his bronze armor and the spear he wielded in battle. His favorite animal was the dog. In classical Greek art, his usual attributes were a crested helmet and a spear with which he easily defeated his enemies.
Decorating with reproductions of sculptures representing characters from classical mythology, such as this bust of Ares-Mars, is an elegant and timeless way to add a touch of sophistication to our home spaces.
These figures serve to enrich the atmosphere of our interiors, libraries, offices, lobbies, or living rooms. When we incorporate reproductions like this bust of Mars into interior decoration, there are some considerations to take into account: the size of the figure in relation to the space it will occupy, the lighting of the room, and the arrangement of the chosen piece in relation to other surrounding elements, such as furniture, textiles (curtains, carpets, tablecloths), and other decorative objects (paintings, vases, statues…). Placed in a niche, or on a column or pedestal, its presence can highlight a special corner of the room.
Reproductions of large classical sculptures add an artistic touch to the decoration of our home and help create a unique and evocative atmosphere.
