Reproduction of the Roman sculpture of the Ephebe of Antequera. The original is in the Antequera Municipal Museum.
The original is life-size (1.43 m). It was cast in the 1st century AD. The ephebe is shown in a walking position. He may have had a crown of flowers in his right hand, which is lost today. On his head he wears a band in the form of a plaited ivy wreath. The figure was probably used to decorate the halls of large banquet tables with table servers. The figure was found on the “De las Piletas” estate in Antequera, Malaga.
