Ludwig van Beethoven (1770 – 1827) was a German composer, conductor and pianist. His musical legacy drifts from classicism to the beginning of the Romantic musical period. He is one of the most important composers in the history of music and his legacy has a decisive influence on later music, with works such as his symphonies, the most famous of which are the 5th Symphony and the 9th, the last movement of which is the so-called Ode to Joy, a symbol of freedom and unity among peoples.
