Bodhidharma statuette, inspired by Chinese ceramic figures from the Hong Kong museum, originating from popular craftsmanship workshops of the first half of the 20th century.
Bodhidharma (known as Dámó in Chinese) was an Indian Buddhist monk who arrived in China in the 6th century. He established himself in the Shaolin Monastery and founded the Chan Buddhist school, which later spread to Japan as Zen Buddhism. Bodhidharma is credited with the foundation of martial arts such as Kung Fu.
Bodhidharma is depicted covered in a red mantle; in this figure, one foot is bare and a sandal is held in the hand.
Interior decoration gains its own personality and expression when we incorporate reproductions that express the beauty of art. Through figures representing characters from the Far East, we add a touch of originality and exoticism to our favorite corners of the home. Placed on shelves, ledges, or pedestals, in a living room or library, art reproductions like this sculpture can inspire us and create a special connection with history. In the living room, these statues can become focal pieces that attract attention and stimulate conversation, while in the library or office, they create a relaxing and inspiring atmosphere.
Decorating with art reproductions inspired by Eastern cultures beautifies the space and evokes the cultural greatness of civilizations that have left a lasting legacy in the history of art.
This figure of Bodhidharma inspires us with its serenity and wisdom in our everyday work.
