Recreation of a head of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 AD – 180 AD), Stoic philosopher and one of the so-called “Five Good Emperors.” He ruled the Roman Empire together with co-emperor Lucius Verus from 161 to 180 AD. He is also remembered as one of the most notable Stoic philosophers. His best-known work is the Meditations, written in the form of a diary, in which he reflects his thought, focused on the constant pursuit of virtue and wisdom and their application in everyday life.

Marcus Aurelius faced numerous challenges during his reign, including military conflicts, epidemics, and internal crises. Amid these difficulties, he managed to maintain the stability of the empire despite both external and internal threats. Thanks to Stoic philosophy, he was able to endure the pressures of government, following the principles of Stoicism, which encourage the calm acceptance of adversity and the cultivation of virtues such as generosity and justice, self-discipline, and moderation.
