The demigod Heracles, called Hercules by the Romans, is one of the most famous heroes of Greek mythology, known for his incredible strength and bravery. Son of the god Zeus and the mortal Alcmene, Hercules had to face a series of trials and challenges to prove his courage and gain immortality, such as the famous 12 trials, imposed as penance to atone for the murder of his wife and children, committed in a fit of madness. These include the capture of the lion of Nemea, the cleansing of the Augean stables, and the obtaining of the golden apples from the garden of the Hesperides. Hercules is a symbol of endurance and determination in the face of adversity, and his figure has inspired generations of people throughout history.
