Description
Reproduction of an oil lamp made in lost wax bronze.
Measurements: 3 x 7 x 4 cm.
Reproduction of a bronze lantern, the original piece is dated between the 4th century B.C. and the 1st century A.D., it is currently in the Museum of Ancient Heritage in Arles.
Lamp with a leaf spout. The central inlet is surrounded by a groove and originally had a closed lid, which no longer exists. The handle is composed of a horizontal ring shape that mirrors the shape of a crescent. The hole is triangular.
Lanterns, candlesticks or oil lamps were the usual means of illumination in Ancient Roman houses.
