Recreation of a mask of Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 AD – 180 AD). A Stoic philosopher and one of the so-called “Five Good Emperors,” he ruled the Roman Empire together with co-emperor Lucius Verus from 161 to 180 AD. He was also one of the most notable representatives of the Stoic school. His best-known work is the Meditations, written during military campaigns in the form of a diary, in which he expressed his thought, focused on the constant pursuit of virtue and wisdom and their application in everyday life.

During his reign, Marcus Aurelius faced numerous challenges, such as military conflicts, epidemics, and internal crises, which he was able to endure thanks to Stoic philosophy, whose teachings encourage the calm acceptance of adversity and the strengthening of oneself to overcome difficulties, cultivating virtues such as generosity and justice, self-discipline, and moderation.
