Description
Reproduction of a relief of Tutankhamun made in reconstituted marble (resin + marble powder). The ageing patinas are applied with natural earth.
Measurements: Height: 48 cm. Width: 23 cm.
Relief reproduction of the back of Tutankhamun’s treasure chair. It expresses very well the sensual style of Tell el Amarna.
Among the treasure of Tutankhamun’s tomb was a wooden throne covered with gold, silver and glass, depicting the young king with his Great Royal Wife, Queen Anjesenamon, leaning towards her husband in a protective and affectionate manner.
Tutankhamun (c. 1342-c. 1325 BC), was a pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty (16th-13th century BC). The son and successor of King Akhenaten, he ascended the throne at the age of nine and died at the age of eighteen. In his brief reign he restored the cult of the traditional Egyptian pantheon, which had been suppressed by his father in favour of the cult of the solar disc, Aten. His tomb was discovered almost intact by the English archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
