Reproduction of a sculpture of Ares made in moulded marble (marble powder with binder). Application of ageing patinas.

Statue suitable to resist the inclemency of the weather, ideal for outdoor decoration in gardens and terraces as well as for indoor (living rooms, hallways, libraries, offices, etc.).

Handmade in Spain.

Reproduction of a sculpture inspired by the Ares Borghese in the Louvre Museum.

The Ares Borghese is a Roman marble statue from the Imperial period (1st or 2nd century AD). The piece in the Louvre Museum is a statue 2.11 metres high and is identifiable as Ares by the helmet and the ankle ring, which was given to him by his lover Aphrodite. This statue possibly retains some features of the original bronze work, now lost, from the 5th century BC.

The god Ares (Mars in Roman culture) is the god of war, courage and self-improvement. Ares had a chariot drawn by four immortal stallions with golden, fire-breathing bridles. Among the other gods, Ares was renowned for his bronze armour and the spear he wielded in battle.  His favourite animal was the dog. In classical Greek art his usual attributes were a crested helmet and a spear with which he easily defeated his enemies.
