Set of 12 statuettes of the 12 Olympic gods from Greek mythology on a base or stand. The gods represented in this set are the following:
Sons of the titan Cronus:
- Zeus, the father and king of the gods, god of lightning.
- Hera, sister and wife of Zeus, goddess of marriage and laws.
- Poseidon, god of the sea.
- Demeter, goddess of agriculture and crops.
- Hestia, goddess of home and state fire.
The following gods were children of Zeus:
- Ares, god of war.
- Hephaestus, god of fire, craftsmen and smithy.
- Aphrodite, goddess of love.
- Athena, goddess of wisdom and war.
- Hermes, messenger of the gods.
- Apollo, god of the light of the sun and the arts.
- Artemis, twin sister of Apollo, goddess of nature, forests and the moon.
The dwelling of the gods was located on Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, where a temple dedicated to Zeus was erected with a chryselephantine statue (ivory and gold) sculpted by Phidias, now disappeared, which was considered one of the 7 Wonders of Antiquity.
