Reproduction of a sculpture inspired by the Ares Borghese, located in the Louvre Museum.
The Ares Borghese is a Roman marble statue from the imperial era (1st or 2nd century AD). The Louvre Museum piece is a 2.11-meter-high statue identifiable as Ares by the helmet and ankle ring, given to him by his lover Aphrodite. This statue possibly retains some features of the original bronze work, now lost, from the 5th century BC.
The god Ares (Mars in Roman culture) is the god of war, valor, and personal overcoming. Ares had a chariot pulled by four immortal stallions with golden bridles that breathed fire. Among other gods, Ares was recognized for his bronze armor and the spear he wielded in battle. His favorite animal was the dog. In classical Greek art, his usual attributes were a crested helmet and a spear with which he easily defeated his enemies.
The interior and exterior decoration with reproductions like this statue of Ares brings the cultural and aesthetic richness of classical art into our homes. When we incorporate these sculptures into our gardens and terraces, we infuse them with an air of nobility and serenity. The stone or resin-molded marble used to make these replicas are materials that withstand the weather well, ensuring the durability and resistance of the pieces when exposed to outdoor spaces. With these reproductions of large classical sculptures, we surround ourselves with beauty and transform our favorite outdoor spots into unique places where we can enjoy moments of reflection and contemplation.
