Reproduction of a figure of Celtiberian origin made in lost wax bronze.

Measurements: 15 x 11 x 3 cm.

Reproduction of a bronze hospitality tessera in the shape of a bearskin, the original is in the Royal Academy of History (Madrid).

A tessera is a plaque inscribed to formalise a pact or alliance. The flat face has seven rivets and on the body and left leg of the animal there is a Celtiberian inscription. This piece could have come from the region of Segóbriga where Ptolemy mentions a settlement called Libana. This piece could also come from Libana de Berones in Rioja. The zoomorphic form can be interpreted as a representation of the animal sacrificed for the covenant, which is a testimony to it, in accordance with the ancient rites of the ancestors.
