Bulls of Persepolis. Achaemenid period. Persian Empire, present-day Iran.
A chapitel in the form of two symmetrical bull protomes. This chapitel crowned a complex ornamentation of scrolls, which in turn were above another capital in the shape of a palm tree supported by hanging leaf mouldings. The original is in the Palace of Darius in the southern portico of the Apadana.
