In classical mythology, Venus, identified in Rome with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility. In her retinue, she is often accompanied by Cupid–Eros, according to some versions her son, and in others, a primordial god of the beginning of the Cosmos, as described in Hesiod’s Theogony.
