The bust that we offer is a reproduction of the sculpture of the full body of the Belvedere Apolo, so called because it was found in the courtyard of the Belvedere Palace designed by Bramante. It is assumed that it is a copy of a bronze original. It is attributed to the Greek sculptor Leocrates.

In Greek and Roman mythology, Apollo is one of the most important and multi-faceted Olympic gods. The ideal of kuros (young beardless), Apollo has been variously recognized as a God of light and the Sun; the truth and prophecy; archery; medicineand healing; music, poetry and the arts; and more. Apollo is the son of Zeus and Leto, and twin brother of the Huntress Virgin Artemis. It is known as Apulu in Etruscanmythology, influenced by Greek. Apollo was worshipped in ancient Greek religion and the Roman, as well as the modern Neo-Helenismo.
