The Geometric Period is an archaeological period in Greece that occurred between 1200 BC and the 8th century BC, also known as the Dark Ages, after the end of the Mycenaean civilisation and the invasion of the Dorian peoples, before the rise of Classical Greece. The period takes its name from the decorative style of pottery from this period.
