Reproduction of the Ares Borghese sculpture from the Louvre Museum. The Ares Borghese is a Roman marble statue from the Imperial era (1st or 2nd century AD). The Louvre Museum’s piece is a 2.11-meter-tall statue and is identifiable as Ares by the helmet and the ankle ring, given to him by his lover Aphrodite. This statue likely retains some features of the original bronze work, now lost, from the 5th century BC.
