Bronze hand mirrors are the legacy of the Etruscan masters. A surface was carefully polished, and the back decorated with engraved or embossed. The Etruscans inhabited the region of Etruria (present-day Tuscany) until their absorption and assimilation by Rome. They developed an art with strong influences from Greece and Asia Minor.
