The Danaide is a marble sculpture by Auguste Rodin. The sculpture was designed for La Porte de l’Enfer “Hell’s Gate”, around 1885, unfortunately this figure will no longer appear in their latest version. It is based on a mythological theme – the daughters of Danaus, the Danaids were condemned to fill forever a bottomless pitcher, because she had killed her young husband on the night of their nuptials.
